No Cap Terminal is a terminal and SSH client. It is built so that we never receive your information. This policy explains what that means.

  • We collect no personal data.
  • No accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking, no crash-reporting services.
  • Everything stays on your device.

What stays on your device

Your hosts, usernames, passwords, SSH keys, identities, snippets, known hosts, and settings are stored only on your device. Secrets such as passwords and private keys are encrypted using the Android Keystore on Android and Windows DPAPI on Windows. We have no server that receives this data and no way to read it.

Network connections

The app connects only to the servers you add and the commands you run (for example SSH, Telnet and SFTP hosts, and port forwards you configure). It makes no connections to us or to any third party on its own. This website loads no external fonts, scripts or analytics either.

Backups

The app can create an encrypted backup file (AES-256-GCM, protected by a password you choose) so you can move hosts and keys between devices. You create it, you choose where it is saved, and you control who receives it. We never see it. Android cloud backup is disabled for the app, so your data is not copied to Google or any other cloud automatically.

Permissions

  • Network (internet): to connect to the servers you choose.
  • Notifications: to show that terminal sessions are running in the background.
  • Foreground service: to keep your sessions and tunnels alive while the app is not on screen.
  • Biometrics: optional, only to lock and unlock the app with your fingerprint or face. Biometric data is handled by your device and never reaches the app.
  • Storage: the app has no broad storage access. Files are opened or saved only through the system file picker, and only the ones you select.

Children

The app is a general-purpose developer tool and is not directed at children. Because we collect no personal data, we do not knowingly collect any from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. Because the app does not collect data, we expect changes to be rare.
